Water Filter Cartridge - A Guide to the Best to Keep You Healthy
Are you frustrated with the sheer volume of information out there when looking for a quality water filter cartridge? Being one of the best investments you will make to protect your family's health, it's important to get it right.
Most of us are aware that our bodies are made up of 70% water and so the quality of what we drink is vital if we want to enjoy good health, and a water filter cartridge can vary greatly from product to product, with many still leaving you exposed to toxins.
The small kitchen jug or pitcher style, though useful, are the least effective and most expensive types due to their size and it seems you are always going out to buy more!
The popular reverse osmosis systems are not recommended either as they remove the vital minerals like calcium and potassium which we require to stay healthy, and in the long term this can lead to a mineral deficiency. Their filters also still allow in some of the more dangerous toxins and parasites which can lead to infection.
With contamination scares on the increase and the new phenomenon of prescription drugs in our supplies like growth hormones and antibiotics, it is essential we select a water filter cartridge that can effectively deal with this so we don't end up drinking other people's medications.
The US EPA only recommends using a carbon filter type system, and one which employs a multi-stage filtration with an ion exchange can remove 99% of all the bad stuff, leaving you with great tasting water, with the vital minerals intact.
It is a pity these days that we have to protect ourselves from our own water, but as we use more and more chemicals so more gets into the supply and the treatment plants just can cope adequately enough.
A great home water filtration system will remove all the worries for you, and if you take some of my advice, you will be doing the best you can to safeguard the health of your family.

How to go about getting a better filter cartridge?
i have a 55 gallon aqueon filter and a 20 gallon aqueon filter in my 55 gallon tank. but i'm really not satisfied with them..
i was wondering if i can buy/make better filter cartridges for them that will work great and give me the satisfaction i want???
any suggestions or peices of advice at all is welcome
if you know what there called what company etc etc that'd be great
Being familiar with the Aqueon line....
Modified mine by adding an AquauClear 50 sponge into the wall between where the powerhead flow enters and the main chamber, then used ceramic foam plates for the media. This is probably priceyer than you'd like.
So go with the AC 50 sponge and the bio-media pouches for the AC 110 (or any media bag with a good bio-media).Once you pull the cartridges and holders, there is all kinds of space begging to be filled with media....and it won't impede the flow,
As stated, don't change it all at once.Drop the media bags in with the cartridges for 3-4 weeks. Then remove and toss the cartridge...save the holders though. You never know.
