Ideas for Redoing a Veneered Cupboard?
My laundry cupboard is a stand alone unit with awful wood veneer on it. I would like some ideas of things I can do to cover it up. Can I paint it? My understanding is that there is no paint that will stick to veneers. I would be willing to do most anything to get rid of the ugly wood pattern. Any suggestions? I thought about applying Contact paper, but I can just imagine the bubbly mess. I would even decoupage it with interesting paper if I thought that would work. Please, lend me your creativity! Do you have any ideas?

Sure you can paint it! If it is a wood veneer, sand it with 220 grit paper to remove any sheen so adhesion is improved, use a good primer, sand lightly, and then paint . If a composite or plastic finish is on it, clean well with a degreaser, sand, prime and paint.
and if you want something else, how about having it reveneered with something you do like?
